TONY AWARDS & NOMINATIONS
Diahann won a Tony Award 1962 for "Best Actress in a Musical" for her performance in "No Strings". She had by then already been nominated for her portrayal of Ottilie in "House of Flowers", 1954.
EMMY NOMINATIONS
Her television nominations go back to 1963 for outstanding single performance by an actress in a leading role for the series "Naked City".
Ms. Carroll was also nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of "Julia", her starring role in the TV series with the same name. The year was 1968.
Diahann's third Emmy nomination came in 1989. This time for her guest appearance in the sitcom "A Different World", in which she played Jasmine Guy's mother.
In 2008, Diahann received yet another nomination for best guest actress in a drama series for her role as Jane Burke on "Grey's Anatomy".
GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS & NOMINATIONS
Ms. Carroll won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for "Julia", 1968.
She was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category Best Motion Picture Actress - Musical / Comedy 1975. This for her title role in "Claudine".
OSCAR NOMINATION
Diahann was nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Actress" for her title role in the 1974 movie "Claudine".
WIF CRYSTAL & LUCY AWARDS
Ms. Carroll won the Crystal Award in 1992. The Women In Film Crystal Awards is a yearly celebration of American actresses.
In 1998 she won a Lucy Award. The Women In Film Lucy Award is given annually to "talented individuals who exemplify the extraordinary accomplishments embodied in the life and work of Lucille Ball".
HOLLYWOOD STAR
In 1996, Diahann was presented with a star on the Walk of Fame, one of Hollywood's most prestigious awards.
DAYTIME EMMY NOMINATION
In 1999 Diahann was nominated for a Daytime Emmy (Outstanding Performer in a Children's Special) for her role in "The Sweetest Gift".
NAACP AWARDS/IMAGE AWARDS
In June 1992, the NAACP Defense and Education
Fund awarded Miss Carroll the Black Woman of Achievement Award for her work and charitable activities.
In 2000 Ms. Carroll earned an Image Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Mini-Series/TV Movie for "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years".
In 2005 she earned another Image Award nomination, this time for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a TV Drama Series, for "Soul Food", in which she played Aunt Ruthie.
TV LAND AWARDS
Groundbreaking Role Award for "Julia". TV Land Awards celebrates classic television, and Diahann Carroll is one of the first receivers of the award. (March 2003)
