- September 22, 2004: Some bad
news
Diahann Carroll has been forced to withdraw from the play On Golden
Pond.
"An injury over the weekend aggravated a previous condition that
left the Tony Award-winning star with a herniated disk and severe
muscle strain," according to an announcement Sept. 21. "While
she is expected to ultimately recover, her physicians insisted she
immediately limit her movements and return home to Los Angeles for
treatment and rest, making further rehearsals and upcoming performances
impossible."
Jeffrey Finn said, "Everyone associated with On Golden Pond is
heartbroken that Diahann Carroll won't be able to join us in Washington.
A driving force of this production from the beginning, a consummate
performer and a dear, personal friend, her participation will be greatly
missed."
We wish Ms Carroll a speedy recovery!
- May 19, 2004: Upcoming performances
Ms. Carroll is going into rehearsal shortly to co-star in "Bubbling
Brown Sugar," which runs July 16-24 in Atlanta. After that, Diahann
will star opposite James Earl Jones in "On Golden Pond"
at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
- May 17, 2004: I'M BACK!
Diahann! (diahann-carroll.com)
has been down for a while, but now it's back. I lost the domain name,
plus experienced some problems with the hosting service, but that's
all in the past.
Diahann! was created by me (with some help from my friend John) several
years back. It's been a pleasure to provide fellow Diahann Carroll
fans with information on this gifted entertainer, and it's great to
be back on-line. Be on the lookout for some great new features in
the future.
Thanks,
Mike

To Guest Star On 'Strong Medicine'
Oscar nominee, Tony and Golden Globe Award-winning actress
Diahann Carroll will guest star on Lifetime Television's highly-rated
dramatic series "Strong Medicine" on Nov. 2 at 10 p.m..
In the television take of the Oscar-winning movie "Guess Who's
Coming To Dinner," Golden Globe Award-winning actress Diahann
Carroll guest stars on Lifetime Television's highly-rated dramatic
series "Strong Medicine." The episode airs Nov. 2 at 10
p.m.
The episode, titled "Love and Let Die," is a television
take on the Oscar-winning movie "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner,"
and will air on Nov. 2 at 10 p.m. on the Lifetime television network,
Comcast Cable Channel 46.
"Lifetime is honored to have such a talented and accomplished
actress as Diahann Carroll guest star on our critically acclaimed
series," said Kelly Goode, Lifetime's senior vide president of

In the episode, Carroll plays the role of Eve Morton, the high-society

that she is less than thrilled with her son's choice, leaving Andy
to wonder what the future holds for her relationship with Milo.
Carroll is probably best known for her title role in the television
series "Julia," one of the first series to star an African
American woman and the first series to show African Americans in
a middle-class setting. The actress is also well known for her role

"Dynasty."
Carroll's recent television credits include Showtime's "Soul
Food" and CBS's "The Court." The actress and singer's
